Habitat for Humanity Malaysia-Hong Leong Foundation Together with Yayasan Orang Kurang Upaya Kelantan launch 2 Year Pilot Project in Kelantan

A pilot project to improve the conditions for families with disabled family members in Kedai Buluh, Kota Bahru, Kelantan was launched on 25 January 2010.  Under this initiative, the residents will also be given financial education training and the necessary resources to set up their own home-based income generation projects following thereon. The 2-year project is a joint effort between Habitat for Humanity Malaysia and Hong Leong Foundation with local partner, Yayasan Orang Kurang Upaya Kelantan (YOKUK) which has identified the  4 families for this pilot phase. Hong Leong Foundation has alloted RM200,000 for this project.

Families living with disabilities are facing tremendous financial difficulties  Their houses are currently in very deplorable conditions with leaking roofs, poor sanitation, unsafe conditions and are often subject to overcrowding and severe flooding during the rainy season.
